Farm Update

I don't know about you, but it feels like October zoomed by.

I wrapped up my outdoor markets for year, the last one being the Spirit of the Monks festival at the Historic Monastery Farm.

Shortly after that I heard back on two holiday markets and the rest of the month was spent making more product so I would have enough for the Craft Fair at the Methodist church in Ogden, which was last weekend, and the Millcreek Commons Holiday Market which runs from November 1 to December 24th. And making sure I would have enough soap to get through the Millcreek market and the Craft Lake City Holiday Market that will be in December at Union station.

Today (the 31st) I spent the morning in Millcreek setting up and now that I'm done and all the high energy preparation I've been doing all month long is done, it kind of feels like I still have a million things to, but I'm just forgetting them all. I'm sure my brain will register the change in a day or two.

In CSA news: I will be opening up registration for next year's CSA very soon! I'm going to give our members from this year, a chance to sign up again in November and then I'll be opening up registration to the general public on December 1st.

Just as a reminder, I am making some changes to the CSA this year. Here are the changes that will be made for next season:

  • I'm going to switch to bi-monthly memberships only. This seems to be what the majority of families sign up for and it's easier on me.

  • I'm going to increase the number of memberships! I haven't decided exactly how many yet, but it will be at least 20, possibly more.

  • I'm going to switch from a model where I select what items you get in your bag each week, to one where I will stock our fridges with what is available, and your membership will determine how many items you can select each week. Right now the options are going to be 4 items, 6 items, 8 items, or 10 items. This way you'll always get exactly what you want.

  • There will be a pricing structure based on the number of items you sign up for.

The website is currently being updated to reflect these changes and you should be able to see them in the next week.

In goat news: Our 3 babies still haven't found homes yet. I've reduced their price to $75 each and would love to find new homes for them before winter sets in. If you, or someone you know has been thinking about getting goats or adding to a herd, keep us in mind. These babies are sweethearts.

I would like to get another breeding doe, but have to wait until the three boys have new homes. I won't be breeding Honey this year, but I am going to make one last attempt to breed Reba. She has been having regular heat cycles again and I'm hopeful that Caspian, our new buck, will be able to get the job done.

In natural skincare news: Almost everything I was out of stock on has been restocked and the items that still show as out of stock are soaps that are still on the curing rack. They will updated in the next couple of weeks.

As I mentioned above, my last two markets of the year are the Millcreek Commons holiday market, and Craft Lake City holiday market. Details for each of those markets are below.
