Spring is Springing...kind of.
The snow started melting, and then we got more. I'm trying not to get anxious about the timing of the garden, but the more snow we get, the more difficult it is to keep anxiety at bay. Hopefully we'll still be okay though. I know on the other side of the valley, people have far more snow than we do.
Craig surprised me with a small greenhouse a couple weeks ago. I figured out where I wanted it to go, and he cleared snow so we could set it up. He built snow supports for it so we could put the plastic on and now we're waiting for the soil to dry out inside.
In goat news... I'm pretty sure we have at least one pregnant goat! I haven't done any blood tests, but Honey was in heat the day Badger arrived and he stayed with us for 31 days and Honey did not go back into heat! If she is pregnant she will be due mid July. If she has any bucklings, we will probably retain one as a wether (castrated male) as a companion for our future herd sire. But any other babies we will sell. I'm telling myself that right now so I can't change my mind once babies are here.
These goats will be sold as pets, not as registered dairy goats as Honey has a genetic defect that I don't want to pass on to other dairy herds. So if you've been thinking about getting goats, keep us in mind come fall.
