Trying to make February cheerful
February is usually that one month in the year we spend longing for spring. We know it's just around the corner since the sun is slowly stretching it's hours, but there is still snow (a whole bunch in our backyard!), and it's still cold.
This year, I'm trying to make February as cheerful a month as possible. Not just for myself, but for you too, which is why I included a picture of a sunflower this month. :)
I often refer to winter as my 'down-time' when I take a break from all the ranch stuff. The truth is, I do a lot of off season planning, creating, and testing. So my down-time is really me sitting inside working on my computer rather than having most of my day filled with physical labor tasks. But I'm excited about what's coming and hope you will be too!
Here are a few things happening at Julbud Ranch right now:
Seed starting
Farm Share planning
Goat breeding
New products
Planning upcoming events
There is too much happening to go into very much detail, but since some of these are self-explanatory, I'll just touch on a few.
Farm Share planning - I'm hoping that by mid February I will have everything in place to begin accepting Farm Share members for the 2023 season! If you've been following us for a little while, you may remember we did a trial run of a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) last year with five amazing families. We've decided to call them Farm Shares to make it easier and this year we're making it official. We will open our Farm Shares to 15 families this year. It will begin the week of June 18th and run until the end of September. Stay tuned for many, many more details!
Upcoming events - I'm currently working through the possibilities of holding a workshop at the ranch on Seed Starting Methods that could possibly be held in March. I'm also growing a whole bunch of herbs for a workshop on growing and using your own herbs that could also be in March, possibly in April. So stay tuned for those. Since you receive this email newsletter, you'll be the first to hear about the official dates on these. And, once our Farm Shares are open for registration, any members will get discount tickets to these events!
Goat breeding - This week I will be doing blood tests on both our girls to find out if they are pregnant. If they are we'll expect babies in June. If not, we're going to try again with a different buck and hopefully get babies in July.
Upcoming Product Releases!
Just last week I released our new Lotion Bars. But February 1st, I'm releasing another new product! Powdered Face Masks. These are so cool and I loved the concept the moment I heard about it.
These powders can be mixed with all sorts of liquids to create a custom face make for all your skins needs! Have a breakout of acne? Mix your powder with aloe or honey. Struggling with dry, flaky skin? Mix it with yogurt, green tea, or apple cider vinegar. So many possibilities!
I'm also re-releasing gift bags. With the release of the lotion bars, and the face masks, I wanted to recreate the gift bags as well. Starting February 3rd there will be an option for a small gift bag and a large gift bag.
The small bag lets you choose a full size soap, a lip balm, and a jar of Dandelion Salve.
The large bag lets you choose a full size soap, a lip balm, a jar of dandelion salve, and either a face mask or a lotion bar.
